My mother and father are part of a dining circle which includes the ex-Mayor of Alfredston. (now, now, Marv, don't show off...) They are going out for dinner tonight.

"We're having trout wrapped in bacon," said my mother.

A look of disappointment and puzzlement crossed my father's face.

"Hmm," he said doubtfully, "Pig fish."

I can't wait to see whether the pig fish is actually any good.

The dining club also produced this anecdote:

The ex-Mayor presided at a dinner, wearing her mayoral chain. The first course was soup, and by an unhappy accident, her chain fell in the soup. The soup splashed down her cleavage, and burnt her boobs. Is it worse to lick soup off the mayoral chain, or preside over a dinner wearing a chain covered in soup?

Moorhensroad really is a strange place. Fortunately nothing much happens here most of the time.
