Kakapo news

I was pleased to find that there is a stuffed kakapo in the Bristol City Museum. I mentioned this to the Other Gremlin, who wondered whether there are more stuffed kakapos in existence than living ones.

It is an interesting thought. Kakapos used to be very common; in my studies, I have read accounts of nineteenth-century naturalists shaking trees and making them fall out in large numbers (they are, as you will recall, flightless).
